"Silence is the background on which
we experience sound. It is always
there but we never notice it until
we are able to go beyond the sound.
If we learn to detach ourselves from
the sounds around us we will start
hearing the silence. Once we have
connected with the silence we are
able to experience being. Initially
we need to experience inner silence.
Stillness is the backdrop against
which we experience thought. The
stillness has always been there but
we have not been able to experience
it because we are too busy focusing
on the thoughts that are
superimposed on that backdrop. It is
always there but we never notice it
until we are able to go beyond the
thinking! Once we have connected
with the stillness we are able to
experience the spirit. Initially we
need to experience inner stillness."
"Darkness is the background on which
we experience the light. It is always
there but we never notice it until
we are able to go into the light.
If we learn to detach ourselves from
the light around us we will start
seeing the darkness. Once we have
connected with the light we are
able to experience enlightenment. Initially
we need to overcome the darkness.
